My kids will return to school in just 3 short weeks. While our summer has been pretty great, I’m not totally ready for it to end. I love the slower, simpler days. And just like everyone else, I dread buying the long list of school supplies. So, as I lament the end of summer, I try to remind myself of things I love about the school year: my kids learning new concepts, making new friends, discovering new things, more fixed daily routines, Autumn, etc.
While all the flyers and mailings, commercials and plentiful articles and ads on the internet tell us ALL the things we must have for our kids to be successful in this coming school year, you and I both know that we need much less than we or the ad agencies scream that we need. Like any good mom, I want to start the year well and to have my “ducks in a row.” I thought you might want that too and to have some help thinking through how to do this with a mindset of simplicity. Over the next few weeks, I”ll be sharing how my family will prep for the upcoming school year in this Back to School Series with articles like:
*Kids capsule wardrobes – an honest take on using what you have and purchasing things you’ll need
*Simplify School Papers – How I manage the mountains of school papers that come home with my kids each day.
My desire with this series is to acknowledge our true needs and limits, end summer well, and to set our kids up for a fantastic school year. If you want to join along or find any of these helpful, would you please consider sharing on your favorite social media platform? Thanks!
